El Rio Mar
You may be surprised to learn that for a city on the sea, Havana has precious few places to eat with an ocean view. El Rio Mar, however, has an entire terrace overlooking the water. The view is where the Rio Almendares flows into the sea, just opposite the historic Club 1830. Because this little bay is sheltered, you get the benefits of the ocean without the waves. In fact, this restaurant is the expatriates’ favourite dinner options for its fabulous location, service and menu. Enjoy your Havana Club Selección de Maestros on ice, and take in the view. You can hear music from Club 1830 across the bay, and many a patron of the El Rio Mar has eventually been inspired to go over and join the dancing at the club.
