Our Commitments
Our commitments
Corporate social responsibility
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is at the core of Havana Club’s identity, guiding our journey and shaping our purpose. Rooted in Pernod Ricard’s vision as “Créateurs de Convivialité,” our commitment spans every step of our production process—from cultivating Cuban sugar cane to employing sustainable practices in our distilleries.
For Havana Club, CSR means investing in local communities, preserving traditions, and protecting the environment, all while upholding the highest ethical standards. Every team member ensures our values are reflected in each bottle we produce and every interaction we have. By embracing CSR, we aim to create experiences that connect people responsibly. Each sip of Havana Club celebrates tradition, sustainability, and respect for the future, embodying our mission to blend conviviality with care for our planet and communities
OUR SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES
Local Supply
We are proud to share that 100% of the sugar cane used in our production process is sourced exclusively from Cuba. This commitment not only supports the local communities but also ensures that we maintain the highest quality standards in our products. By sourcing our sugar cane directly from Cuban farmers, we can guarantee that every step of our production process reflects the rich heritage and unique flavors of the region. In every bottle, you can taste the authenticity and craftsmanship that comes from our exclusive use of Cuban sugar cane.
Vinasses Project
Every year, 8,000 tons are distributed to nearby communities, serving as both fertilizers for agricultural lands and feed for livestock. This initiative not only supports local farmers in improving soil fertility and crop yields but also contributes to sustainable livestock farming by providing an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional feed sources.
Project CréditO₂
We are proud to present Project CréditO₂, aimed at protecting and restoring over 640 hectares (53 ha de Manglares & 587 ha de Bosque de Cienaga “Costal Forest”) to safeguard coastal ecosystems and combat rising sea levels. Launched in February 2024, the project is expected to save 17,000 tons of CO₂ annually. Additionally, it paves the way for Havana Club International to secure certification for carbon credits—a groundbreaking achievement for Cuba. The project also actively involves local communities, with residents of Playa Caimito leading the plantation efforts.
EcoSPIRITS Project
In partnership with 10 bars and our partner Iberostar, we expect to achieve remarkable results: – 15 tons of glass saved annually, equating to a reduction of 25 tons of CO2 each year. We are proud to be the first brand company to establish our own EcoPlant at the distillery, where we can disinfect and refill EcoTotes—reusable containers of 4.5 liters.
We are proud to celebrate Havana Club’s win at the 2025 Paris Packaging Week “PLD Innovation Awards” for excellence in premium and luxury drinks packaging!
Solar panels at the San José distillery
We have already installed 5,200 solar panels, achieving 75% coverage of all our operations. Expected outcomes include total autonomy for daytime operations. For energy reinjection, we have redistributed 780 MWh in 2024 and even more planned for 2025 to nearby communities, and a reduction of 1.8 tons of CO₂ annually.
