Maximo is the supreme expression of Cuban rum, created in 2002 by the late Don Jose Navarro, Primo Maestro del Ron Cubano. A handmade blend of our best reserves, carefully crafted in our cellars.

The art of blending extra-añejo rum

In 1978, our Maestros Roneros created Havana Club Añejo 7 años, establishing Havana Club’s tradition of Continuous aging thus starting Extra Añejo category and opening a new chapter in Cuban rum history.

The ageing mastery, led in San José de Las Lajas by Maestro Asbel Morales, starts with the best barrels sourced from Ireland and Scotland where our rums rest following our continuous ageing tradition under Cuba’s ideal conditions. Allowing for careful ageing and blending successive periods to ensure the development of the perfect profile for each of our signature rums.
This unique know-how was the foundation for creating exceptional rums gathered in our Icónica range. All our rums undergo this precise añejamiento (ageing) process. The result is a collection of perfectly aged rums, each showcasing a uniquely Cuban character with a refined and elegant taste profile that sets us apart from other prestige rums.

It is the particularity of the weather in Cuba as well as our rich history of sugarcane cultivation and the distillation techniques from our Maestros that explains why our rum reserves are some of the world’s most rare.

Maestros del Ron Cubano

At the helm of this illustrious tradition stood the late Don José Navarro, a revered Maestro del Ron whose legacy is etched into the very essence of Cuban rum.

Elaborating rum made and aged in Cuba, using the best and 100% natural molasses raw material selected from the whole island, owned yeast for fermentation, unique columns designed by The Maestros themselves for distillation, and original continuous aging tradition.

The Maestros Del Ron Cubano take the ron fresco and age it in the finest whisky casks. The selection of only the finest quality barrels is crucial, as the wood impacts the colour, aroma, and complexity of our ageing rums.
And, unlike some rum production methods, our rums remain in the same barrel, ageing without disruption, until they reach maturity as dictated by the Maestros.

For centuries, La Giraldilla remains steadfast, safeguarding not only Havana’s most prized and precious rum’s but also the city’s very essence, serving as a luminous symbol of Cuban history and tradition.

Her legacy, immortalized by the iconic Giraldilla statue in 17th-century Havana, that symbolizes resilience and grace in the face of adversity.
